Champagne Toasts: Finding Your Tribe

Champagne Toasts are back! I started this blog series as a place of encouragement for other small business owners like myself out here navigating the world of weddings and small business ownership. Today’s toast is to “Finding Your Tribe.”

Ok, let me explain. Finding your tribe simply means finding a group of like minded professionals to connect with. I didn’t realize the importance of this until I began reshaping the business. My heart was telling that it was time to change my business structure. I could feel myself wanting to design more weddings and really focus on full and partial wedding planning and design. But I just couldn’t see how that would work as a business model. I began seeking out other planners who concentrated on full planning and design and making them part of my tribe. Game changer folks! By connecting with these planners I gained a sense of encouragement and affirmation that my dreams are valid and a plan to put those plans in motion.

The best thing is your tribe does not have to be local to your area. I’ve made some of the best connections on Periscope and Facebook (shout out to Valerie Gernhauser) and really value the relationships I am forming with my tribe. So, I encourage you to get out and begin to connect with other industry professionals whom are striving or already doing what you want to do. Valerie said on a Periscope earlier this week, “You are the sum of the five people occupying your head space.” Who are you allowing in your tribe and is the space they are occupying positive, productive and pushing you towards your goals? If not, time to find some new peeps.

I’ll be periscoping every Thursday night at 9:30pm about my Champagne Toast for the week. So if you don’t already follow me on periscope at @laurenoevents!

Until next time, happy planning!
